Groups from Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia representing 15 and under and 17 and under flew to Singapore to play against school teams associated with Netball Singapore. A big than-you to Christina Chee the School Programmes Manager who organized all of the venues and games. Travel arrangements throughout the tour went extremely well thanks to DB Travel. .

The Warm up games were organised with the Schools and Clubs around the area. The Host teams were able to use this competition as a practice and selection for a forthcoming Asian International competition being held later in the year. Because some of the players and coaches from the host groups were involved in both the Warm-up and Tri-Series matches, the spirit of the games was friendly and competitive. The Singapore Hosts were very gracious and welcomed our contingent sometimes with a little gift, drinks, and snacks after the game. This act of kindness was very much appreciated by all CANA players. These International Tours were especially exciting adventures for our players who had never been overseas before. It is commendable too that we can report that all who went showed themselves to be good ambassadors for the sport of Netball, for our CANA Association and for Australia.

Whilst the standard of netball in the junior groups may not have been to the expected level many friendships developed between players and officials. As the opposition players became older the competition became more intense and games were a little harder.

At the conclusion of the games, medals were presented to the winning and runners-up teams. The Presentations were followed by a farewell dinner at the Stamford where gifts were exchanged and farewells made. Christina Chee, School Programmes Manager for Singapore Netball congratulated the CANA teams and personnel on the standard of play that had been witnessed during the week. She praised CANA for the efforts put into promoting netball at ‘Grass Roots’ level and commented that they had learned a lot from our visit.

During the week all teams were able to mix and share in a number of dinners and tours. The China Town and Little India tours were enjoyed by all, together with visits to Sentosa Island, the Zoo and night Safari, the Flyer and Wacky Duck tour as well as a trip to Changi Chapel on Anzac day.

Thank you Singapore

for a great Tour

The Senior Team in Hawaii played in a competition organized through Gullivers sport Travel and they had the opportunity there to not only play matches, but also to see some coaches’ demonstrations by past Australian players – Ann Sargeant being one of them. The team played matches against other Australian teams of varying ages and had mixed results of wins and losses. Naturally in Hawaii, the players enjoyed the beach location as well as the shopping and a trip to Pearl Harbour and other planned tours.
